Of course, it depends on the route, because on some of them there is so much going on that sometimes you don’t get it. Unfortunately – without this boost, sometimes we get the impression that the game is too slow. Each such activity will allow us to move faster temporarily. It is also associated with the so-called “Technical boost”which can be activated both by slipping and by performing fouls in the air or during transformation. But flying is not so hopping either, because it is done differently. A car is easier to drive than a boat which is difficult to maneuver in rough water. And depending on the situation, this is how we will move. Each of the vehicles has 3 forms – a car, a floating vehicle and a flying vehicle. Each of them changes, and the ground will be broken, and we will be forced to drive on water, and we will have to take to the skies. Because we do not drive the same route throughout the race. However, what is important is not what these routes look like and what happens to them. We will ride the routes from, among others, Panzer Dragoon, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, various parts of Sonic, Skies of Arcadia, Golden Ax and another dozen or so of the next few titles created by SEGA. And there are a lot of these and they are well done.

While going through the mode “Story” we can unlock new players, go-kart mods that increase selected statistics, as well as routes. Then we transform into a faster vehicle capable of shooting at enemies. Of course, each competitor differs in skills for which the maximum machine performance, acceleration, grip, boost and were selected “Allstars”which we activate if we draw an asterisk. The cross-section of characters as I mentioned is very rich and probably all the more famous representatives of SEGA appear here. So, a saying that is sometimes known from fights “Easy to learn, hard to master” fits here like a glove. the B speed class (because that’s how it was resolved), is not only more powerful machines and more aggressive AI, but also a lower threshold for our errors. On the easiest difficulty level, no one causes any problems and after the second lap we go 10 seconds ahead of the rest. The game is demanding, punishes for staring and inattention, and sometimes for being too brave (which pays off with a bit of luck), but it rewards you handsomely if you play focused. I tested each difficulty level and I can confidently say that it was hit perfectly.
Therefore, the key element was to balance the difficulty level so that easy is suitable for novices, medium as an entry level for seasoned players, and hard as something that will actually force us to learn the route and take advantage of Sumo’s opportunities.

I suspect that this title will be played by both the older ones, who remember the greatness of such series as Sonic, Golden Ax or Shinobi, and the younger ones, guided by Ralph from “Wreck-It-Ralph” they beg their parents for a gift for Santa Claus. Sumo Digital received a task from SEGA – to create a title that will sell not only because of the Blue Hedgehog on the cover, but also delight editors who will take on the production, and players whose profile in this case is very wide. Because since the days of the great Crash Team Racing, I haven’t had so much fun playing this type of game. However, the latest production is a title that can be safely thrown into the bag “An inconspicuous game that positively surprises”. After the average LBP Karting and the weaker F1 Race Stars, I approached Sumo Digital with great distrust, bearing in mind their failed experiments with Sonic.
It’s hard to call the release of three kart games in the short term as an offensive for this genre, but the fact is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the third title on the race of cards, the review of which appears in our pages within a week. Review: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3)
